WATER GODS FESTIVAL WATER GODS FESTIVAL

Kaimu county, in the Yabetsu region.
The Tomisuijin festival, celebrating the water gods.

In this region surrounded by mountain ranges, it is said that the people have celebrated the magnificence of nature around them for centuries in the form of several traditional festivals.
One of the oldest of these traditions, the Tomisuijin festival, celebrates the plentiful waters of the lakes and gives thanks for everything they provide.
It is reported this festival dates back to the Sengoku era.
Every 4 years, a champion chosen in each family in the village dresses up in their family's ancestral Tomisuijin clothing and goes to the lake at the foot of Mizuyama mountain to dance for 3 days and 3 nights straight and ask the water deities for an abundant harvest.
Because of the strange image of people in traditional clothing, dancing until they cannot stand anymore, the Tomisuijin festival is counted as one of the "Bizarre Festivals" of the world. However, according to the believers, farmland that was sprayed with the blessed water of the lake will always prosper...

*This part of the website will introduce a fictitious "Bizarre Festival", freely created by Camp employees, or our associates.
Please note that it is all pure fiction, and enjoy.
